The Ultimate Guide to Playing Red Light, Green Light in BO6

  • The critically acclaimed TV Series Squid Games arrived in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on January 3, 2025. The Squid Games crossover event introduced many brand-new, limited-time Game Modes, including the infamous Red Light, Green Light game, run by Young-hee. This BO6 guide covers everything you need to know about playing Red Light, Green Light, as well as handy tips that will help you survive the fight and cross the finish line first.

How to Play Red Light, Green Light in BO6

To begin playing Red Light, Green Light, navigate to the Multiplayer menu, Find a Match, and then select Red Light, Green Light from under the Featured section.

Loading into the match, you'll find yourself on the pitch of the Red Card stadium, where you'll then be tasked with surviving three rounds of Red Light, Green Light, each lasting up to two minutes long.

Young-hee, the large doll at the end of the field, will call for a Green Light during each round. During this time, you must make your way to the end of the field as quickly as possible.

As soon as the music stops, a Red Light will be called, and Young-hee will turn around. At this point, it's crucial to your survival that you avoid all movement, otherwise you'll be shot dead by the assistants featured around the pitch.

In round one, you'll need to be among the first 28 players to cross the finish line in order to qualify for the second round. Throughout the round, you may be lucky enough to collect some glowing piggy banks, earning you additional points.

During round two, you'll find blue envelopes have now spawned among the pick-ups on the field. Collecting one of these will grant you a Knife, which you can use to eliminate other competitors with melee attacks and Finishing Moves. To qualify for round three, you must be among the first 11 players to cross the finish line.

Round three will play much the same as the previous one, with the only difference being that you must be among the first four players to cross the finish line to win the game. While it all depends on item spawns, we recommend making a break for the finish line straight away, as with limited spots, you don't want to risk your position by taking unnecessary deviations in your path to the finish line.

Essential Tips and Tricks for Surviving Red Light, Green Light

While Young-hee's song will play in different variations and tempos, she'll always call for a Red Light and turn around after singing "da." So, even if you hear a lull in the music, unless she's saying "da," the song will continue, and you'll be fine to move. The average player will likely not recognize this pattern, so you'll often notice that they'll stop on a lull in the music, giving you the chance to take the lead.

With that said, just be careful not to be swayed by the movement of others; it could cost you the game. Instead, rely on your own instincts, as just because another player is moving doesn't mean it's the right time to move.

It may seem obvious, but when Young-hee stops singing and calls for Red Light, all movement must stop. This includes general player movement and camera movement, as even a slight tweak in your camera's position will call for your execution.

Don't let your over-eagerness to win catch you out, as it's easier than you think to jump the gun before a Green Light is called on screen, especially as the final callouts of eliminated players will draw out longer than needed to build anticipation.

Without giving up valuable ground, we recommend steering clear of other players as much as possible during rounds two and three. There's nothing worse than being meleed or finished just a few meters from the finish line.

If your controller has unfortunately fallen victim to controller drift, playing Red Light, Green Light can be quite the challenge.

Thankfully, depending on how bad your controller drift is, you can potentially fix any unwanted movement by adjusting your Deadzone Inputs, which can be found under Controller settings.
